This year, the fall colors in Colorado were spectacular and lasted a bit longer than usual. The dry, cool fall days promoted rich colors that lasted weeks instead of days as we sometimes see when it is wet and windy. Most of these pictures were taken outside of Aspen, Colorado on a drive down Castle Creek Road. With this beautiful color, it really doesn’t matter what kind of camera equipment you have. You only need to worry about the light and composition. I hope you enjoy these shots!

Colorado Aspens
Since Tex is in traction there is no point in hunting just yet. So we took a weekend and went to Aspen to see the fall colors and hit them near their peak. Beautiful stuff!

Before heading to the Great Plains for birds, we head to the Colorado mountains for the views. Here are some of last weekend’s shots in an around Vail.

Barn Swallows
Not all birds are for hunting. Here are some Barn Swallows that nest in a nearby parking garage. These guys are advanced fliers, darting in and out of the garage and chasing bugs in aerial dog fights at the nearest intersection. Ever notice how these little fork-tailed birds swarm at traffic intersections? Maybe that’s where the bugs are.

Colorado Aspen Gold
This has been an incredible year if you like the high country fall colors. The right temps, moisture, lack of moisture, sunshine or whatever; the color has been intense and enduring. Another reason why fall is the best season of all. These shots were taken yesterday near Kenosha pass.
